In relation to our brief discussion of “catharsis”, how does this relate to Gilgamesh’s realization of his own mortality?

Our brief discussion of "catharsis" relates to Gilgamesh's realization of his own mortality because before Enkidu's death he constantly boasted that he was a God and he was unstoppable. After Enkidu's death, he felt a deep sorrow because the two had been working together and constantly achieving. And he noticed that it could have been him who the gods could have picked to kill for causing all this trouble. This slowly begins to start the process of catharsis in Gilgameshes life.

What prompts Gilgamesh to confront his own mortality?

What would prompt Gilgamesh to confront his own mortality is the death of his best friend Enkidu.
This would completely change Gligameshes personality because he's never lost anyone this close.
They spent so much time together going on journeys and fighting monsters.He would also understand that if he messes up or angers the Gods once again he could be the next one killed.Even though he
was 2/3 God he was still 1/3 human and that part will always make him mortal.There for I believe that
Enkidus death is what prompted Gilgamesh on confronting his own mortality.
